After a somewhat rough day at sea, 4-5 ft swells we arrived at Cane Garden Bay.   Our adventures that day gave us a whole new appreciation for  Global Positioning Systems - they are a must. All those islands look alike, we were disoriented and didn't know it, either that or Guana Island has disappeared.  At any rate because of the rough seas we had decided to take what appeared to a short cut to Cane Garden Bay, when Vickie on a whim turned on the GPS only to realize that the turn we were taking was in fact the one we had been looking for, not a short cut and had we not taken it we probably would have eventually figured out our error - probably about the time we approached Cuba.

As you can see from the photo's Cane Garden Bay has the same rich beauty that by now we were getting quite accustomed to. The big event planned for the evening was to go to Bomba's Shack for the Full Moon Party.  This is quite a popular event and one that you sort of have to be there to appreciate - there is no describing it, other then to say that the closest experience I have ever had was Mardi Gra day in the French Quarters.  The main attraction to Bomba's Shack on the full moon is the special brew he makes to serve at mid-night.  It is shroom tea !!   Since I had not yet seen any cows I found myself wondering where Bomba got the shrooms from and if they were what he claimed them to be. The other concern I had was the fact that they were brewed at such a   high temp that a rock was need to keep the lid on - what do you suppose he was trying to kill and did he kill it?  With those questions unanswered we decided we would be observers and not partake. And it was interesting to watch! Click on "Time for Bomba's Shack" to see the party.  The next morning we decided to treat ourselves to some leisure since we only had a short sail over to Jost Van Dyke. So we went back to shore. I did a nice 3 mile jog while Bill, Vickie and Tim checked out the local shops and such.  In my jogging I stumbled across some young kids playing - they were wearing Pokeymon T-shirts - it was good to see a little Americanization. I also stumbled across the local Cane Garden Bay Health Clinic, it shared the bldg. with the Post Office and was conveniently located across the street from the grave yard - I wondered if this was coincidence or a reflection of the quality of  health care in the BVI.   Meanwhile Tim, Vickie and Bill stumbled across the Cane Garden Bay Veterinary Clinic.  Tim being a Vet was quite interested and wound up with far greater concerns then what I had for health care. There was an animal skeleton under one of the chairs in the waiting area - I wonder how long one has to wait to see the vet. They must be on Carribean Time - Bill said it was VooDoo. After a little window shopping we went back to the boat and headed for our next destination - Jost Van Dyke.
